Congressional Bufoonery

If there are any Americans left who actually trust our government, you need to stand up and pay attention to the boondoggle foisted upon us by Congress. As both the House of Representatives and the Senate have approved the bailout bill, we are being sold down the river. This entire nation is being turned into a modern-day Twentieth Century Motor Company (yes, that was a reference to Atlas Shrugged).
You all know I oppose the bailout. There are better ways to fix these problems. But Congress has whored itself out on this bailout, eliminating any shred of trust that was there for those who are paying attention.
- The bailout that actually passed had an additional $100 billion in subsidies, pork, and handouts. For example, we’re subsidizing wool research, rum production, American Samoa, and the manufacturers of wooden arrows.
- If the bailout was wrong for America at $700 billion, how is it now right at $800 billion?
Those who voted for this mess will not receive my vote ever again - even if Barbara Streisand is running against them. It’s truly sad to watch our nation be sold down the river by our congressional representatives and the crowds of indebted American citizens clamoring for a piece of their neighbor’s wealth to bail them out. It is outright thievery to tax me and my children to bailout or subsidize banks who assumed too much risk - especially risk they didn’t at all understand, irresponsible and overextended consumers/homeowners, political careers (and the subsequent wealth-creating kickbacks and speaking fees), wool research, producers of wooden arrows, the economy of American Samoa, and rum producers. It is theft - plain and simiple. Shame on our Congress and shame on America.
Update: I forgot to mention that the bill’s length has increased from three pages to over 400.
